Illustrated by John Tenniel. First edition, first printing, with "wade" instead of "wabe" on p. 21. FIRST ISSUE, with misprint *wade* on page 21, instead of *wabe* as correctly printed in mirror- image on the same page. Williams 84- . The Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass has its original red binding with gilt illustrations. The Through the Looking-Glass front board has a three line gilt border with a John Tenniel illustration of the Red Queen in gilt, and the Through the Looking-Glass back board has a three line border with a John Tenniel illustration of the White Queen also in gilt. The spine has the title Through the Looking Glass and the publisher's name Macmillan with a small illustration and a three line border to the top and bottom of the spine, all of which are in gilt.
