Der Ai Khanum gewidmete Teil ist für mich natürlich die große Attraktion, eigentlich der ganze Grund meines Besuchs, denn wie bereits erwähnt, wurde diese Stadt im Gefolge von Alexander dem Großen erbaut, der 328-327 v. Chr. starb. eroberte dieses Gebiet. Ich denke, es ist etwas ganz Besonderes, ganz an der Grenze zu Usbekistan, am Ufer des Flusses Oxus, eine Stadt zu finden, die im griechischen Stil aufgebaut ist, komplett mit Gymnasium, Theater und Tempeln. Es wurde sogar ein Palast gebaut, ein ungriechisches Konzept, da die Griechen keine königlichen Paläste hatten. Diese wurde nach persischem Vorbild erbaut, jedoch mit monumentalen korinthischen Kapitellen auf den Säulen und Flachdächern, die mit sogenannten Antefixen verziert waren. Deshalb sind sie hier ausgestellt, zusammen mit Objekten wie einem Wasserspeier in Form einer Theatermaske oder einem Paar Sonnenuhren (was man wirklich nicht erwartet!), einer Hermessäule von besonderer Qualität, ein Anblick davon Ich kann nicht einmal mit Sicherheit sagen, ob es sich dabei um einen Mann oder eine Frau handeln soll, verzierte Bronzegriffe usw. Der eigentliche Blickfang ist die Scheibe der Kybele aus vergoldetem Silber aus dem 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr. auf dem die griechischen Statisten in Symbiose mit verschiedenen orientalischen Einflüssen dargestellt sind. Was mich wirklich begeistert, ist der Sockel, auf dem die Tugenden des griechischen Mannes eingemeißelt sind. Dieses Sprichwort stammt ursprünglich aus Delphi und war bereits im 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. bekannt. Grob gesagt läuft es darauf hinaus: Als Kind lernt man gute Manieren, als Jugendlicher muss man lernen, sich zu beherrschen, mit zunehmendem Alter muss man gerecht sein, als Ältester muss man weise Ratschläge geben und wenn man stirbt, muss man dafür sorgen Du bereust nichts. Das hast du. Können Sie sich vorstellen, dass diese Weisheit vor zweieinhalbtausend Jahren ihren Weg von Griechenland bis an den Rand dieser Wüstensteppe gefunden hat, nur um nun völlig unerwartet wieder aufzutauchen? Das lässt mich für einen Moment still werden!
